Julie Hyslop
I have been designing and making jewellery since 1993, studying at Cardonald
College, then going on to Edinburgh College of Art.
I work in Sterling Silver, using nature and my surroundings as inspiration. I love the patterns I see in flowers, leaves or in the negative spaces in between and working designs inspired by them into metal. I especially enjoy using hammering techniques to change to shape and dimensions of silver in it's various forms to create flowing, simple and balanced pieces.
I believe jewellery
should be an expression of who you are and how you feel, yet easy and fun to
wear. For
me, pieces that are fun to fidget with are always my favourite! My work is of
my own original designs, often unusual and either Limited Edition or One-Off
originals.
I have been based in Edinburgh
since 1995 where I have my own wee workshop to escape to in between my duties
as a wife, mother and charity volunteer!
